Cybercrime in focus as Lagos hosts Technology Times Outlook

All is now set for Technology Times Outlook, Nigeria‘s technology thought leadership series, which holds tomorrow in Lagos to brings industry leaders to discuss and deliberate on issues that foster growth in the local ICT industry.

Technology Times Outlook, themed: Nigeria Cybercrimes Act 2015 Review, holds tomorrow the Rodizzio Event Center in Ikeja, Lagos, to review the nation’s new legislation on Internet and related crimes.

Basil Udotai, Managing Partner, Technology Advisors LLP, a law firm specializing in ICT will deliver the thought leadership keynote presentation that will review the new legislation.

Udotai, the Thought Leadership Keynote Presenter for tomorrow’s edition of Technology Times Outlook, will be complemented by a distinguished team of panelists who will bring their wealth of experience on the subject matter.

The Technology Times Outlook Panelists include Sola Salako, President Consumer Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (CAFON).

Salako is a versatile and passionate activist who focuses on ensuring justice in commercial transactions by educating, advocating and creating awareness for consumer rights and protection in Nigeria.

She founded CAFON, a not-for-profit group dedicated to advocacy for consumer rights and protection in Nigeria.

CAFON’s primary aim is to increase awareness for consumer rights and provide education and enlightenment for consumers on their rights and responsibilities in their interaction with public and private service providers.

Also on the Panel is Alex Muoka, the immediate past Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch.

Muoka attended Methodist Boys’ High School, Lagos, graduated from the Lagos State University in 1990 and was called to Bar in 1991 – winning the Dr. Graham –Douglas prize for the ‘best and most outstanding student in company law and commercial practice’ at the Nigerian Law School.

Olufemi Awoyemi, CEO, Proshare in Nigeria

He holds a Master of Laws Degree of the University of Lagos specialising in International Commercial Law and Secured Credit Transactions, and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of the United Kingdom.

Emmanuel Edet, Head Legal Services & Board Matter Unit, National Information Technology Development Agent (NITDA), is a lawyer and member of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association of Nigeria (NiRA).

Alex Muoka, the immediate past Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch.

NITDA was created in April 2001 to implement the Nigerian Information Technology Policy and co-ordinate general IT development in the country.

It is the prime Agency for e-government implementation, Internet governance and general IT development in Nigeria.

 NITDA plays a key role to create a framework for the planning, development, standardization, application, evaluation and regulation of Information Technology practices, activities and systems in Nigeria.
